From vast forests to Lapland
Sweden: a diverse country full of nature, culture, and adventure
Sweden is for us a country full of surprises and memorable experiences. After Tessa spent half a year as an Erasmus student in Copenhagen, we decided to continue our travels through Scandinavia together. Sweden quickly made it onto our list: a country known for its unspoiled nature, dense forests, and charming cities. We explored vibrant towns and enjoyed the calm that this vast country has to offer. Sweden feels like a place where there’s always something new to discover, whether you love nature or culture.
About Sweden
Sweden is known for its vast nature, dense forests, thousands of lakes, and the calm that can be felt everywhere. The country stretches from the vibrant city of Stockholm to the rugged landscapes of Lapland in the north. It’s also the land of fika (cozy coffee breaks), moose, the northern lights, and a strong connection with nature. With its efficient public transport and welcoming atmosphere, Sweden is an ideal destination to explore in any season.

FAQ about Sweden
When is the best time to visit Sweden?
We found summer ideal because of the long daylight hours and mild temperatures. However, autumn and winter also have their charm, especially if you want to see the Northern Lights or enjoy winter activities.
How to get around Sweden easily
Many people choose to travel through Sweden by car or camper, mainly because it gives the freedom to stop wherever you want. We also found the train to be a great option: reliable, comfortable, and offering scenic routes through the countryside. Public transport is very well organised, making it easy to travel between cities and nature areas.
Which cities should you definitely visit?
Stockholm and Gothenburg are our favourites because of their atmosphere and interesting sights. Malmö is also worth visiting, especially if you’re near Denmark.
Is Sweden expensive to travel?
Sweden can be more expensive than many other countries, especially in cities. Travellers often save money by preparing their own meals and choosing budget-friendly accommodation options.
What is the atmosphere like in Sweden?
Sweden feels welcoming thanks to its friendly people and relaxed vibe. The country combines a modern lifestyle with a strong connection to nature.
